A Christmas Devotional
Now ye hear of endless bliss:
Joy! Joy!
Jesus Christ was born for this!
He has opened the heavenly door,
and man is blessed forevermore.
Christ was born for this!
Indeed, Christ was born for this purpose. He did not come to us to play with us, to stroke us as if we were his pets. He came to offer salvation, to open the heavenly door that had long been closed to mankind. He came to show us that he loves us, to teach us how to commune through prayer with our loving Father, and to redeem us - to claim us as his own.
This is absolutely incredible! For you see, the Creator of all of the universe, of things we have seen and much more we have not seen, infinite in knowledge and power, loves us. He loves us. He cares for us. This is the only news a creation could long to hear. We no longer need to fear our own frailty and mortality.
Now ye need not fear the grave:
Peace! Peace!
Jesus Christ was born to save!
Calls you one and calls you all,
to gain His everlasting hall.
Christ was born to save!
In the beginning, there was the Word. And the Word became flesh. And the Word was the best news, the greatest news. It is the news of our salvation. It is the news that God loves us and welcomes us to live with him eternally. He did not have to do this. But he wanted to do this. So he sent the Word, his son, to offer eternal life. Truly, this was Christ’s purpose. Christ was born to save.
Dear Father,
We see so little with our earthly eyes, and we hear very little with our earthly ears. Thank you for providing us with heavenly ears, and the ability to hear your voice within our hearts, and to recognize your message of good news. Help us to open the heavenly ears of all of your children so that they too may hear your word.
For we long for the endless bliss when all Good Christian Men Rejoice with heart and soul and voice.
Amen.
