Devotional for November 22
We Gather Together
Author: Eduard Kremser
Scripture: Psalm 100:4-5
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
Hymn lyrics:
We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known.
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!
We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be.
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Today's thoughts:
November is a beautiful time of the year. In some countries the trees are brilliant with vivid fall colors; or snow is softly falling. In other parts of our great world the trees are putting on new leaves and flowers are begining to bloom. Is this not a perfect time to pause and give thanks to our Lord? No matter where we live, let us gather together to ask the Lord's blessing and sing praises to His Name. What a joyful experience for young and old!
